What is a Domain Name?
A domain name is simply the address that people use to find your website. In other words it's what you type into the address bar to go directly to the site. Most internet sites have 'www.' before the domain name.
For example: http://www.google.co.uk - google.co.uk is the domain name. (in today's browsers, it's not necessary to type the symbols http:// ).
The final part of most domain names is called the TLD (Top Level Domain) or extension, and is usually used to identify the geographical location or type of organisation.

What should you choose for your Domain Name?
You need to choose a name that is relevant to your site and that is still available. The problem that many people face these days is that their first choice domain name has already been taken.
For example if you want to create a website for a building company the chances of 'builders.co.uk' being available are very slim. However, you could look for alternatives such as 'newbuildingcompany.co.uk' or 'buildersrus.co.uk'.

How to register a domain with Gnetix
Registering a new Domain
Think carefully about which name and TLD you would like to register!!! Once you have an idea then simply carry out an availability search using the box at the top of this screen. You will then be given a list of available domains matching your criteria. Once you choose a domain click to add these files to your cart. You can then checkout and view the cart using the Control Panel. (You will need to register and login to use the control panel; however, it is FREE to register).
Transferring a domain
If you have previously registered the domain with another provider you can simply transfer your domain to us using the Control Panel.
